Good Afternoon,
I am trying to track down my partners father. His name is Stephen Martin and we are told he lived in ballyduff and owned a small bed and breakfast next to a river where he caught salmon. Are there any Martins still present in ballyduff?

Many Thanks
Jess

Dear People of Baile Dubh,
Thank you for putting together this delightful website. I have thoroughly enjoyed all of the pictures and information. My family in the U.S. traces its origins to Baile Dubh, County Kerry. My great grandfather, Garrett Michael Stapleton arrived in the U.S. circa 1890, settling in Boston, Massachusetts where he met and married Mary Baldwin of Waterford. We have all grown up hearing of Baile Dubh and even though my hair is now silver, it is still a hope of mine to visit one day. I wish all the best to all of you.
Sincerely,

Thanks for posting photos!

Thanks so much for posting photos of the Ballyduff area! After years of searching, I've discovered my ancestors lived in Kilmore townland, a family of weavers - Mathew Enright and Ann James. They emigrated to the US in 1851. What a thrill to see photos of the places they must have known very well. Many thanks!
